Certified Caycedo Sophrology (Sofrocay) Master's Degree in Caycedo Sophrology

As a functional IT consultant and information systems architect, I contributed to improving them for several years.

Today, in my quest for well-being, I have chosen sophrology.

It is a mind-body method inspired by a blend of:

  • Western techniques (self-hypnosis, Jacobson's progressive relaxation, Schultz's autogenic training, the Coué method)

  • Eastern practices (DO, IN, Tibetan yoga, meditation, Zazen)

  • phenomenology (Edmund Husserl)

It is adaptable, based on respect, and can be practiced anywhere, at any age, at any time.

Sophrology also allows you to develop a better awareness of your body and its sensations by strengthening your body schema. This work promotes a better perception of yourself, improves coordination, balance, and the connection between body and mind.

It's also a discipline of rigor and training during which we work on ourselves.

A philosophy of life, a decision to see the glass as half full.

The techniques

Sophrology techniques are simple, accessible to everyone, and based on a few essential principles:

• Positive action: The principle is that every positive thought, sensation, or action has a beneficial effect on the whole person. By focusing on what is good for us, we gradually strengthen our well-being.

• Body awareness as a lived reality: Sophrology helps us become more aware of our bodies. Through breathing, movement, and attention to sensations, each person learns to experience their body differently, to listen to it better, and to respect it. This improved self-perception promotes balance between body and mind.

• Adaptation and flexibility: Sophrology adapts to each individual. Sessions can be practiced individually or in groups, standing, sitting, or lying down, according to each person's needs, abilities, and goals.

Professor Caycédo

Dr. Alfonso Caycedo, a neuropsychiatrist and the founder of sophrology, was interested in the study of consciousness and its structure. He developed a method to foster the development of consciousness.

This research was motivated by his desire to find an alternative to the existing treatment protocols in the psychiatric hospital where he worked.

He succeeded: sophrology was born; it is the study of consciousness in harmony.

SOS = harmony, PHREN = consciousness, LOGIE = study.

The relaxation and visualization techniques derived from sophrology are used by coaches in business and sports, such as TOP (Technique for Optimizing Potential).
